In Sanskrit language Yoga indicates union. It is the development of body balance via boosting flexibility and strength. But also Yoga allows you many times more than that. Yoga benefits cut down tension in your body, develop joint mobility, alleviate back pain by strengthening the spine. It increases your posture, boosts glands in the endocrine system and improves digestion, circulation, immune system and much more.
Yoga even has uses to the body’s mental state. Yoga may not only develop your body systems but even develop your concentration, soothes your body and mind and keeps your mind free from stress. You may become disciplined with Yoga.
I recommend you should practice some types of Yoga at least if you're a freshman in this field. It is not penned anywhere to practice only one kind of Yoga each and everyday. Asthanga Yoga is my prefered one however I also try out Hatha Yoga and Iyengar Yoga for a variety.
There are four types of Yogas, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga. Almost every Yoga sort teach us how to attain salvation or moksha. You can get freedom from the death and lives permanently after obtaining salvation or moksha. Hence the other meaning of Yoga is complete spiritual refinement. |
