12:47 pm - Rejects
as reported in other posts Morelli and Johnson along with a linebacker, James Bryant and a reciever, Johnny Payton have all turned their back on Pitt. the rejects are rejecting Pitt. i hope to have time tonight to write a little something about this. On a much more sad note, my dog died yesterday. i don't think its humanly possible for things to get any worse for the surviving beards. i think someone is playing some kind of sick sadistice joke on the beard family.

08:26 pm - Update
I will attempt to write some things tonight despite the fact that my new Latino roomate Diamond(real name Dominick)is bumping some kind of god awfull rap. Welcome to my paradise.

Pitt did infact lose 4 players today. Johnny Payton, a three star guy, was lost to South Florida, a blue chip linebacker, James Bryant was lost to Miami despite being from Pa. Obviously Johnson and Morelli were also lost. What was once a top 25 recruiting class will no doubt be blasted in the Pittsburgh media tomarrow. As I am in Pheonix it will be difficult for me to see what everybody says about this. If someone in the Burgh could give us the upshots of the opinions tomarrow we would all appreciate it.

My take here is both Morelli and Johnson jumped into some interesting situations here. Johnson will be one of four running backs that Miami recruited this year. He will also join SEVEN running backs returning to the roster. Being the pompous ass he is perhaps he thinks he can beat these guys out. A more likely result is that he will end up transfering. However, its worth note that Miami running backs always seem to declare for the draft after one season. I guess we will see if he can wait out 11 other RBs. Acorrding to ESPN's Tom Lemming he has never seen a recruiting class with 6 QBs. My guess is PSU has perhaps two or three actual QBs among their signings. Morelli will also jump on a roster with SEVEN QBs. He will not get out from behind Robinson or Mills and will have to wait hist turn to battle it out with the rest of the QBs. PSU has been Quarterback hell for a long time running back from Kerry Collins, Mike McQuery, Kevin Thompson, Rashard Casey (who may or may not have stomped on a cop) to the present day Mills Robinson era. The likely scenario here is that Morelli will end up having to split time with someone. We all agree he is no Einstein and could drive fans in Beaver Stadium completly nuts. I can also see Morelli transfering as he and his father will at some point feel slighted if the young Morelli is not the star.(two words:Austin Scott)Personally I am rooting for the worst case scenario for both of these two. May they never show there faces is the Burgh again.

This does come as a signifigant loss to Pitt. Even if Johnson and Morelli turn out to be busts the ramifacations of this recruiting class will no doubt be felt in the future. On another site somebody far more knowledgable then me pointed out that lossing your back yard is one of the worst things that can happen. With Pitt soon begining play in The Mountain East, I mean the Big East, recruits may look back to these defections and say "if it was'nt good for them, then why is it good for me." Couple that with a dissapointing finish and a rebuilding year and we might not see many stud recruits around this area for a little while. It is odd that I never here J.D. leaving as a reason why some of these kids might not have come. He seemed like a players guy to me, or maybe I am just reaching here, I don't know.

Pitt put together another strong performance tonight by crushing St. Johns. This brings us to a critical point in their scheduale as they will have to go on the road to play The Hall and Nortre Dame. It astounds me that ND has been this bad to date. I think they are a team that can beat anybody but to do that they have to shot the lights out. Of course they did just that not to long ago and still lost to Pitt but two road games on a Sat/Mon. against good teams scares me. Of course UCONN comes to Pitt next Sat, a game I can't belive is not being Televised. It's not going to be easy for Pitt down the stretch and two losses here would not surprise me. I am sure I will get blasted for that but oh well.

Maurice Clarret was involved in considerable contraversy today as it was revealed that a man who gave Maurice "gifts" was also placing bets at an offshore gamming establishment leading up to the Fiesta Bowl (in Tempe by the way). If Mr. Penn Hills Torey Barr would give us the OSU buzz on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Okay now I will attempt to get to some comments in my next post

09:31 pm - Comment
We had a rant on Morelli and Johnson in one post which reminded me that Johnson told yet another lie. The damn kid said he wanted to play in front of his family and then he decides to get as far away as possible while staying on the East Coast. Guess he is not a family guy.

Football. I know my five year window was a little extreme but it worked so well with my argument I had to do it. I think we would be agree that comparing modern sports to post war sports is about as lame as my 5 year theory. As far as being atheletic during his years away from football, have you seen the guys numbers??? I will have to defer to George Steinbrenner as to the guys "athletic" (reads scratching his balls with a dip in while playing the field) activity during the past years. God I hate Cook I sure hope I am not aligned with him on this debate. Tell you what, if the Steelers can get Henson for next years second rounder, that would be acceptable. I have heard the pick traded would be conditional a one or two but if you could promise me that it would be the two then I would say go ahead and do it. That allows the Steelers to take my corner in the first and RB/T in the second this year. My whole thing is why take the risk with a 1st rounder. The first round is where you get impact guys and nobody really knows if Henson will be impact or not. But I will jump ship and come to the dark side if its a second rounder.

Finally a complementary comment. That compliment ends up being totally back handed as Kinger lays into me like the rest of you but hey, take what you can get. Congratulations on the recent sexual episode. I have found my favorite thing about college is no longer having to pay for condoms as they are absolutly everywhere. There are also beer sluts EVERYWHERE which makes having sex as easy as spotting a hot girl and waiting for her to get hammered. Life is good my friends, oh yes, life is good. ANYWAY, do not fool yourself boys and girls Tommy can still get it done. Imagine placing Drew Henson in the following situation (All Stats AFC Only). Last place YPG rushing, Long rush, and Total Rush yards, 3rd to last in rushing TDs. Sacked 2nd most, 3rd most penalty yards, 2nd worst Field Goal%, 3rd worst Kick Return Average. So lets paint a picture here. Opposing team kicks, Steelers decide not to touch the ball as they know they only bring it out to the 20.7 yard line anyway. Bettis takes the ball on first down finds a crack and gets 3.3 yards. 2nd down Tommy gets killed by Ray Lewis as Oliver Ross impersannates a traffic cop and waves Ray right on by. 3rd and long, Tommy completes a bomb to Hines in the seem but it gets called back for Simmons tackling Terrel Suggs. Mike and Bill get together and decide to fuck it and run a draw on third down which goes for minus two. Lets face it, the Steelers were BAD. Joe Montana could not have made them look good. You can make the argument that Tommy contributed to some of these statistics. This is true the guys is not a playmaker. You have to support the guy, which the Steelers did not do, or he will look terrible. Think Chris Chandler 1999 Atlanta Falcons compared to Chandler present day Bears. I am just saying that Drew Henson is not a cure all for the Steelers. When Tommy was standing upright he made good plays and the Steelers won. A number of terrible circumstances, that I do not think any QB could overcome, took place last year and he played poorly. Obviously I want the corner in the first round. When the season rolls around and you are all watching Chadd get beat deep again, don't bitch to me. I love the running back comment. I think spending the first rounder on a back would be regreatable. I will say it again Greg Jones, Tatum Bell and fuck Norte Dame.

I am deeply dissapointed with the Fleury news. However, does it surprise anyone that Irvin denied it. A women's biggest fear is feeling cheap and being labled a slut. Hence, the required next day after sex phone call. I still think it happened and have heard from too many people to not believe it. As far as a future go around I would advise against that. The girl will suck you dry, and no not that way. She reeks of money, she looks like money therefor she will take your money. Increadibly high maintanice and for very little bang for the buck. Speaking of bang for the buck, I got hammered last night and found myself wandering down Van Buren Ave. trying to hail a cab. This proved difficult due to my drunkenness and the fact that Van Buren is where the crack whores turn tricks. While walking I got to see a real pimp get busted while arguing with his whore.

Torey, how much is Doss making can he really afford to throw money off a balcony??? Last Torey Last.

I went to the FBR Open on Sat. (Golf Tournament) If the PGA comes close to any of you I would highly recomend going. It was very entertaining. A trip to Firestone perhaps Mr. Penn Hills???
