My cat can fly.

It was this morning I found out about his "special ability".

Domino might have thought I was asleep, (which I was, only two minutes earlier, but really had to go to the bathroom.) Anyway, after washing up, I walked into the kitchen to find Domino levitating 4 inches off the ground. His eyes were closed, his tail standing straight up. The only movement was a slow silent bobbing.

Domino was obviously concentrating very hard. I, myself, was stunned. Here was my cat testing reality and playing with imagination. Inconceivable. I said "Domino?" in that 'are you really my cat, or are you an alien?' voice. His eyes instantly opened and focused on me. It was his eyes that I watched as his body flew straight up 7 feet to the top of the refrigerator.

I calmly said "good kitty", and reached up to scratch him behind the ears. He accepted quickly, and pretended like nothing happened.

I've been wrestling with this all morning at work. I keep thinking that I've been living with him for a whole year but never knew. Maybe he recently got these powers from a meteor. Or the spirits in the house are using him to get at me.

This was just Domino, my kitty.

I need time to think, time to reflect on the strange behavior Domino has exhibited in the past. Maybe I can find some historical event that corresponds with, or how, he was allowed to do what he did.

Its still very confusing to me, but Domino has always been a confusing kitty.

Waffles the Kitten

Actually waffles is 5. Five Years Old. You'd have thought that the kitten would have been dead and gone. You would have been wrong.

"He's such a stoner cat..." - Rachel's official description of Waffles 03 July 2004

I'm guessing its the diet of richer food that waffles is getting, combined with the stimuli of the bigger house, other cats, and outside that has turned him into orange ball of furrr-ocious. He unplugs cables from the wall and steps on power cords that turn off the TV and Cable Modem. The cat toys I bought for Domino and Marlow are raked and clawed and chewed on every night by him. He even bit me last night for no reason!

He is distracting me from my piano lessons. I should be playing Mozart by now!

Waffles and Dominoes (and Marlows)

A couple weeks ago, on the 4th of July; The cat with the W of power met his internet friend, Domino.

Lets start at the beginning.

He had come off the plane with a blank stare (I think someone had drugged him). I drove him to his new home and he said not a word. Very unusual, most cats love to talk during car rides. There were fireworks going off to celebrate his arrival, but he was obviously not in the mood for big bangs and explosions.

After arriving at my house, I let him out to check it out, see if this lives up to its reputation of "Kitty Heaven." It didn't take but a few minutes of sniffing to find his internet friend Domino, the moment he had been waiting for.. and what did Domino do? HE HISSED! Domino said something to the effect WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU? Obviously waffles had entered the wrong house. So he tried to leave to find the right one, but all the doors were locked and the windows were barred. TRAPPED!

Waffles had made a terrible mistake. The suprise visit to Domino had turned into a suprise visit to some strangers house with no way out. He starting breating faster, having a little kitty panic attack. I tried to tell him it would be okay, then I heard a meow'ing at the door. Leaving waffles in kitty panic mode I let marlow in without thinking. Thats how it turned from kitty prison to kitten HELL in under 10 seconds.

Rainy day, dream away.

Where I work we listen to the soft roar over our heads, it’s an interesting piece of conversation. I go to the cubicles of people I know and say, "It's raining."

I'm tempted to walk outside with some excuse that I left my wallet in my car. I just want to get drenched. I want to remember how stormy it gets in Long Beach; I used to go there all the time. It's been a year since I've seen the ocean.

I miss using my bike to travel everywhere. Now I use the car to pick up a couple groceries at the local store, to get a burger at Wendy's. I have an old mountain bike in my garage; I’ve been thinking about filling the tires up and taking it out bar hopping.

While writing this the rain stopped. I now dream of being an Evil Genius that creates a weather controlling device. Then we will live in overcast skies FOREVER! (Unless I get paid a million dollars or something, what’s the use of being an evil genius if you don’t use it to sell out? Maybe I’ll be an Evil Genius with principles, and use my weather device to reshape the world, or end world hunger by making desert land grow able... That’s not very evil though, I’d have to end world hunger by flooding out continents and killing millions of people. Now that’s a good evil plan.)

my evil rose bush on a rainy wednesday night.

edited to remove double entry.

before marlow left...

He had to pack his belongings. He brought a kitty toothbrush, since he's sure that the humu fish has toothpaste already he wont need that. He brought his kitty brush, to make his hair fluffy and pettable. He also brought his contact lenses, since he was a self concious kitty that thought he didn't look pretty in his glasses.

He was going to visit the Humu fish in Kansas during a hot time of the year for kansas. That means he needs to wear shorts to show off his furry leggs. He packed a couple of his favourite jeans, so he can be comfortable. Toss in a pair of dress slacks, t-shirts, and two collared shirts for dress up. He also tossed in a 5 pairs of underwear, in case of accidents, and two white t-shirts for night wear. Oh and his kitty pajamas with reindeer on them.

Okay, marlow meowed to himself, "I'm all set, but I feel like I'm forgetting something..."

What did Marlow forget to bring?

Marlow visits Kansas

Marlow has bought the tickets, and will be visiting Kansas on the 4th of June. He is a very excited Kitty, but he's very nervous too. He's afraid no one will like him, and he will have to wander around the streets, and even when he meows no one will hear him.

Hopefully his friend Humu, the fish, will be there for him and make sure he doesn't get too lost. He plans on making dinner for humu the fish, and taking her out to eat too. Fishes love to eat Pizza, but Cats love to eat Steaks, so they may have go claw to fin to decide who wins.

I think marlow was planning on cooking " The Worlds Bestest Gas Grilled Steak EVER" for the Humu fish. He told me tho if the Humu fish spits water at him.. Fried fish will be on the menu. Marlow is a tuff cat.

Crushed.

Waffles had made up his mind to go to Colorado to visit Sue. Domino's attempt to interest waffles with his time machine failed; waffles just wished him good luck in his journey. Domino felt so alone.

He set the year to 1920, he was going to meet the author of his favorite book. Then he would tell waffles and waffles would be so jealous and want to come with him next time he travels back in time. With this in mind, he took out his secret time machine from its hiding spot above the frigerator, and did the secret cat dance to activate it.

An old cat watched this from the shadows. When the young domino stepped through and disappeared into the past, old domino's eyes glazed over. Remembering his younger self's feelings during this time was painful.

Old Domino stood up and went to the bathroom mirror. Time to make himself look young again (and from his reflection in the mirror, this was going to take awhile.)

They came from...

...Outer Space. Upon there decent the spaceship, long sharp and black reflected no light from the earths pale moon. As they descended they say the moon, and remembered there home planet of Catogen, where the brightest light was the light of the moon. They knew from there research that this would not be the case here. They would have to stay underground during Earth's rotations if they were going to survive.

The ship landed in the state of Colorado. Out walked 9 vampires. Sue watched this all from the security cameras she stationed at the landing site. The cow moo'd softly to herself, she was only expecting 3, at most 5. How could she be so stupid? She had the dimensions of the ship for months, how could they fit 9 Vamps in there?

She turned away from the monitory and contemplated her mistake. She already knew the answer, but didn't want to admit it. Sue would need help if she was going to kill the vampires. On the security camera the space vampires had already started digging a hole for there spaceship.

Domino woke up in the same house.

He hears typing on the keyboard with sharp clicks. It could be.. it must be, himself, typing to waffles! Getting up slowly from the kitchen linonium, he walks silently to the bedroom where the computer was kept.

Should he have a converstation with himself? Would it keep waffles from dying?? Or just add another change into the past. Domino didn't know.. as experienced time travler as this cat was, he couldn't grasp some of the contradictions when the past was altered.

I should be doing more, but I've been stuck so I'll continue later

Domino, Waffles, and the tale of the Purple Cow

His eyes were worried, sleepy, and sore. He was a white cat with black spots, and his name was Domino.

Domino tried to clean himself up with his paw and a bit of saliva, but he couldn't wash away 10 years of lonelyness. It was 10 years ago that his best friend in the world, a orange and white cat named Waffles, who died after being corrupted by an evil purple cow named Sue.

10 Years. Domino had a mission, he had been to every bar in every ghetto looking for The Man. The Man, to whom he once belonged too, who rescued him, fed him, 10 years ago. This Man owed him, for all the love and attention Domino showed The Man, The Man owed Domino a chance... the only chance to change history and save Waffles... and to kill Sue.

Domino walked casually into "The Hideaway Lounge" on South East Hawthorne, and knew his 10 years had been rewarded. This was the Man who would build Domino his time machine.

Beer or wine brewing next...

I drink about a 6 pack a week and I stick with what I know. I'm thinking of the alaskan amber kit, cause it (hopefully) would turn out like a beer im used too.

So the question, should I do something new and brew beer, or wait till I've developed my beer taste buds so I can fully enjoy it. Im tempted to just do another wine kit, like merlot (pronounced murr-lott) so I would have some variety against my pinot without having to buy at the store. I'd also be able to store my pinot for longer to let it age. It's all so confusing, im going to the brew show today to just browse.

At the moment I'm leaning toward the wine kit, but I will take thoughts on this matter underconsideration to my final judgement.

Humu's blog with previous thoughts on the subject

The perfect country and western song..

One of my coworkers loves to karaoke. So one day I and a friend went to the bar he goes to sing. I was very berry drunk, my friend was not since one of us had to drive. Anyway when I get there I sing a couple songs that I know, one of them is the Perfect country and western song. I got all into it, I even did the david allen coe monologue before the last verse.

That being said, I came to work today to a voicemail of him singing the perfect country and western song on his cell phone.. made me smile. He wants me to go back and show everyone how big of an ass I can be.. I've been putting it off.

Last night I opened my wine, and was pleasently suprised. It was still too early for me to open it, but I have to know if I should even send it as a gift. I was able to drink most the bottle easily enough, but it was very dark for a pinot. It was also alittle bubbly, I'm not sure If its cause I didnt let it sit out long enough, or stir it during the last step, or if the bubbles will dissapate the longer its stored.

Plan is, to go ahead with shipping, but leave warnings to not open for a couple months. I'm on a deadline, what with mothers day and birthdays coming up.

Real picture of my new stove

At least to my grandmother, I could care less, it bakes the potatoes and heats the canned soup. It will be nice not having to worry about it shorting out and burning down the house, but I always felt mildly secure with an accessible fire extinguisher in the next room. I would like to have some money after I sell it to move onto something else, not be in debt to an evil mortgage company. Pathways and home improvements are a good way to increase value, but what if it turns out awful? Its not like I've done this kind of thing before, It makes me want to do nothing instead of something.

mc chris

My two new mc chris cd's arrived!

The last time I bought cd's was christmas. It was John Prine's greatest hits for my dad, and I listen to it on occasion...

anyway, about mc chris. He does work for adult swim on cartoon network, and thats where I first heard of him.
I was scared I wouldn't like his other songs, I've only listened to 3 previously, and only liked 2 of them. On the albulms, I'm loving the songs, very hip hop and fun to listen to. I dislike the skits on both of them however, but I can skip past those. My major concern is its too short, but quality over quantity i guess.

Here's a couple free songs he has available at his website www.mcchris.com
Bobo Fett's Vette
Evergreen

Star wars skit, Imperial Senate
Not a song, but a parody of a bunch of guys doing a starwars fan meeting.

Yes he's a dog.

I have been writing more in my personel journal, and I don't know how I feel about sharing that on here. Ideas that think on there own, surface and want to be discussed, or at least told and known by someone else.

Maybe.. I was thinking of socializing a bit this weekend, or something. Anything. I'm going to the beach on sunday, I can take my new picture phone with me

Thursday night, Stir Fry night?

I have recently recieved advice from my Co-Worker on how to make Stir-Fry, and will skip steak this thursday night.

His recipe from memory...

Vegetable oil

Onions
cook the onions till there clear, there at there best when a little brown

bell peppers, other vegetables here

add garlic, ginger, oyster sauce
oyster sauce instead of soy sauce, and I can live with that, since i'm not the biggest soy sauce fan

pre-cooked chicken, which I have since I bought a chicken roast on tuesday and still have a good chunk left over.

and corn start if you want to thicken it up.

We'll see how this turns out, it sounds pretty simple, so confidence is high.

In other news: I have yet to rack my wine into bottles. I think its the having to sanatize all 30 bottles, and filling them up one at a time thats turning me off... I need to just start so I can finish, but I know once I start its going to take me a couple hours to complete. Oh, and I'm going to spill it all over the floor, again.

Wine Label

So when I got my bottles and corks, I also picked up wine labels.

Now I just have to figure out what to call it.

brainstorm time:
Black Cat, Winter Night, Hardwood Floor, Drunk Kitty, Overcast Skies, Andrew's home, AH Afternoons, Vancouver Oak, Made Pinot, Marlow's Meow, Domino's Tail..

If the wine turns out good, I'll be giving it to everyone, so I'd like something formal, but not plain, tastefully tacky. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Marlow, the missing cat

Marlow has a best cat-friend named domino.
And a human named andrew...

One day andrew got home from work after picking up 36 empty bottles and 100 corks:

He went to his back door to feed the free cat marlow at his usual time, but marlow wasn't back there. Andrew called out, "marloooww, here kitty kitty kitty..." but no ball of black fur came. That's strange, andrew thought to himself. He thought about the fleas that marlow once had, and now with the flea juice put on him he doesn't need anyone to pet or comb him anymore... then he remembered marlow doesn't have a pet license, and maybe animal control came and took him away to be destroyed... all these things andrew thought about and they are too terrible to discuss here.

So andrew sat down on his computer, and procedded to pet domino, who loved the extra attention of being the only cat in the house, (even tho marlow's best friend in the world is domino, domino isn't always happy with marlow.)

On his computer andrew talked with Humu about marlow's disapearance (much to domino's annoyance, why humans use there hands to type and not pet is a behaviour he finds annoying to say the least.) where was I... oh yes, so Humu the shaved wookiee fish says that she knows marlow is sleeping in a tree, and very comfortable and will come in when he feels like. Yea right, andrew scoffs, humu's just being nice and can't actually see where marlow is cause marlow is a cat, and being a cat means you have certain powers, and one of those powers is anonymity over the internet.

So andrew zones out for a couple hours (with domino on his lap the whole time.) He types to humu and thanks her for her wishful thinking, but she has already left. A little remorseful, andrew went to the back door one more time to look for marlow... and whats this? Yellow eyes in fluffy black fur meowing at him through the glass door, ITS MARLOW!!!!

kitty in picture is not actually marlow, but a actor playing him

Oh happy days, little things in life make such a difference... Andrew picked up marlow and petted him very well.. he got the orange comb and combed his long black hair.. Marlow was hungry, and soon lost the patience to be petted and demanded to be fed (which he was, he was fed a mixture of dry cat food and tuna suprise wet catfood that was very good and which he ate up completley) so Marlow jumped out of Andrew's arms to be fed, but before he did Andrew noticed a distinct smell of pine needlees and bark.

In the living room Domino scoffed, but was not forgotten. He recieved his share of wet catfood too.

Big list o movies

http://home.comcast.net/~jazper/movie.html
this is an old list I updated from the top of my head, tonight I'll get the rest filled out, and take some pictures too.

Instead of renting movies, I buy. During my time in the navy I had no cable tv in my apartment, so I'd do midnight walmart runs and pick up a dvd or two. It's turned into a compulsion, if I walk into Best Buy Im up to 50 bucks in the first 5 minutes. Very evil hobby

Some of the movies in my collection are one time watchers, but I keep them anyway. (the medallion, horrible kiddy movie for jackie chan), and some I've seen so many times half the script is engraved in my brain (Tombstone, which a friend in the navy called it the best western of all time, and he was from texas so he knows whats what. We'd pop that in the VCR and go crazy during nightshifts... slapping each other in the face, "are you going to do something, or just stand there and bleed?" Jumping out of our chairs trying to get the best southern infliction when Doc Holliday says "I'm your huckleberry, and I'm at the top of my game." Our poor shipmates :)

Domino has fleas...

Marlow I can't tell, cause he's all black. (marlow is the name of my other cat, a big fluffy furry meowing cat who likes to eat wet catfood, get scratched behind his ears, and go inside and out constantly.)
So down at albertsons, when I bought those steaks for monday night steak night, I got Hartz 2 in 1 Collar and the liquid flea juice treatment. And a bottle of wine which I drank all up later monday.
Really, the cats wern't that hard to apply it to, I held them tightly and applied to the back of there neck, and they stood very still and let it happen. I'm very proud of them!

Hartz's FAQ on fleas

The only downside was later that night they wanted petting and loving, and that juice was smeared in there backs and doesn't smell or feel to great. I got an all purpose plastic brush being sold as a cat brush that I can comb them with, which marlow loves.

I will never drink (that much) again.

This time I mean it, sunday was a horrible day. I couldn't sleep, eat, do anything my head hurt and my tummy was upset. This is why I can never be an alcoholic, I get too hungover.
It has been brought to my attention tho, that if I stopped drinking entirely I'd have 6 gallons of wine fermenting that would be useless to me. So this non drinking thing will be just for liqours and beer, I'll still enjoy the occasional glass of wine for dinner.

Let your wine set in a quiet, dark place to clarify. This should take about 1 week to 2 weeks. Time is your friend here. Just keep the wine out of direct sunlight, and keep oxygen contact to a minimum. Colder temperatures will promote settling and clarification. Cooler temperatures also slow down the “degassing” of the wine. Some people will “top off” their wine at this time with additional boiled and cooled water. This is up to you, as it is a compromise. Too much water added will dilute the wine flavors; too much oxygen contact can cause loss of flavor.

Here's the step I started last night. I have no idea how to tell if my wine is clearing up, or if it needs water added. If it turns out too thick or strong I'll take note for next time.
