When the men have completed a good fire mission, it's smart to tell them soIt's good for the men to have a sense of participation The General strode away from the jeep with the Captain tagging at his side"Your routine orders are for harassing fire every fifteen minutes, is that correct?" "Since last night, sir "How're you resting your cannoneers?" The Captain smiled deprecatingly"I've cut the gun crews in half, sir, and each half-squad is on for an hour, firing four missionsThat way the men miss only an extra hour's sleep "I think that's a pretty good setup," the General agreedThey crossed a small clearing which contained the battery mess tent and the orderly room tentIn the moonlight the tents were silver, and their roofs sloped upward precipitously to give them the appearance of miniature cathedralsThey passed through, and walked along a footpath which |

"What happened then, Edgar?" Wireman askedHe spoke very softly"What do you think?" "Let's say that Illy opens the door, and when she does, she finds a woman pointing a gun at herShe knows this woman from somewhere, but she's been through one bad scare already that night, she's disoriented, and she can't place her - her memory chokesMaybe it's just as wellMary tells her to turn around, and when she does I began to cry again "Edgar, man, don't," Jack saidHe was almost crying himself"This is just guesswork "It's not guesswork," Wireman said "But why do we need to know-" 920 "Jackwe don't know what we need to know I heard their voices, but from far |

I'll say that if he's serious about our relationship, he'll just have to put everything on hold until July 4th Now that her decision was made, her eyes were bright again "That'll get me to the end of the semester and a month of summer vacation besidesIt'll get him through to his last show at the Cow Palace, plus plenty of time to figure out if he's as finished with Blondie as he thinks he isDoes it suit you, father dear?" "Down to the ground "Here comes the coffee," she said"Now the question is, how long until breakfast?" ii 771 Wireman wasn't at the morning-after breakfast, but he had reserved the Bay Island Room from eight to tenI presided over two dozen friends and family members, most from MinnesotaIt was one of those events people remember and talk about for decades, partly because of encountering so many familiar faces in an exotic setting, partly |

| Russia-U.S. Arms Reduction Deal to Ensure "Balance of Interests" |
[Feb. 3rd, 2010|02:10 pm] |
"A top priority in the Russia-U.S. nuclear talks is to ensure ""an absolute balance of interests"" in all fields, with neither side gaining an upper hand from any of the terms, a senior Russian lawmaker said Tuesday.
A new Russia-U.S. strategic arms reduction treaty will promote global strategic stability, said Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament.
Kosachev was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying he saw no obstacles to a new nuclear arms reduction treaty, which would further cut nuclear warheads and delivery vehicles in accordance with the outline agreed by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama.
The new treaty's outline agreed to by the two presidents at a July summit in Moscow included slashing nuclear arsenals to 1,500 to 1,675 operational warheads and delivery vehicles to 500 to 1,000.
""We have agreed that delivery vehicles carrying conventional warheads should be considered as strategic weapons, and both sides will place a limit on such arms,"" Kosachev said.
Moscow and Washington have been trying to clinch a new document to replace the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START-1) that expired on Dec. 5.
The START-1, signed in 1991 between the Soviet Union and the United States, obliged both sides to reduce the number of their nuclear warheads to 6,000 and delivery vehicles to 1,600. " |

| Pole aboard Tanker Hijacked by Somali Pirates |
[Feb. 3rd, 2010|02:09 pm] |
"A Polish chief engineer is aboard a British-flagged chemical tanker hijacked by Somali pirates on Monday, Foreign Ministry deputy press spokesman Grzegorz Jopkiewicz said on Tuesday.
Jopkiewicz told TVN 24 television that the British ship owner had already phoned the Pole's family.
The U.K.-flagged St James Park tanker was the first merchant vessel to be hijacked in the Gulf of Aden in nearly six months. The ship issued a distress message on Monday, seeking help after it was attacked.
The tanker set sail from Spain and was headed for Thailand. Its crew comes also from the Philippines, Russia, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, India and Turkey.
An estimated 25,000 ships annually cruise the Gulf of Aden, off Somalia's northern coast. The Gulf of Aden has the highest risk of piracy in the world, with more than 10 ships and 200 crew members still being held by Somali pirates " |
