A few red and golden leaves skipped over the cobbles in the breeze "Something's happened," Catriana d'Astibar said, "and Menico told us all that you are the key to our chances "Menico sent you after me?" It was almost completely improbable, after nearly six years together "No," Catriana said, quickly shaking her head"No, he said you'd be back in time, that you always wereI was nervous though, with so much at stakeI couldn't just wait aroundYou'd left a little, um, upset, after all "A little," Devin agreed gravely, noting that she finally had the grace to look apologeticHe would have felt even more secure if he hadn't continued to find her so attractiveHe couldn't stop himself from wondering, even now, what her breasts |

I understand your battles here now, how far they go beyond my own war in the daylight worldBut going far beyond doesn't mean there is no connectionThat was Donar's mistakeIt was before him all along, if only he could have seen "And the naming," Elena asked"What did the naming have to do with it?" "Naming has everything to do with it," Baerd said quietlyHe withdrew his hand from hers and rubbed it across his eyes"Names matter even more here in this place of magic than they do at home where we mortals live and dieAnd after a silence made deeper by the singing far away, he whispered, "Did you hear me name myself?" It seemed almost a silly questionHe had cried it |

Then wait for me Tomasso, wait if you can in Morian's HallsI would like to walk with you there Tomasso still did not understand, but the tone was so mild, so reassuringHe took the dream-vialAgain it was more substantial than he'd expected it to be His father nodded encouragementWith trembling hands Tomasso fumbled and removed the stopperThen with a last gesture, a final mocking parody of himself, he raised it in a wide, sweeping, elaborate salute to his own powers of fantasy and he drained it to the dregs, which were bitter His father's smile was so sadSmiles are not supposed to be sad, Tomasso wanted to sayHe had said that to a boy once, in a temple of Morian at night, in a room where he was not supposed to beHe felt as if he were about to fall asleep, even though he already was asleep, and dreaming in his feverHe really didn't understandHe especially didn't understand why his father, who was dead, should ask him to wait in Morian's Halls He looked up again, wanting to ask about thatHis vision seemed to |

| Gunman Kills Himself and Five Others in S. Finland |
[Feb. 5th, 2010|11:02 am] |
"A gunman went on a shooting rampage Thursday, killing his former girlfriend then slaying four others at a suburban shopping center before fatally shooting himself, police said.
Finnish police said three men and one woman, all employees at the Sello shopping center in Espoo, 10 kilometers west of Helsinki, were shot dead by a man using an unlicensed 9mm handgun.
A fifth victim, the ex-girlfriend of the suspect, was found dead in a house in Espoo.
Police identified the shooter as Ibrahim Shkupolli, 43, am immigrant who had been living in Finland for several years, and said he was found dead in his flat in Espoo. Finnish media reported that Shkupolli was an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.
Police Superintendent Jukka Kaski said the former girlfriend, a Finnish woman born in 1967, also worked at the mall and had taken out a restraining order against Shkupolli.
The midmorning slayings shocked hundreds of people who had gone shopping early on New Year's Eve. One witness told the state broadcaster YLE that a gunman dressed in black began randomly shooting at people on the second floor of the mall.
Finland has one of the world's highest gun ownership rates, ranking third behind the United States and Yemen at the end of 2006. There are about 1.6 million privately owned firearms for 5.3 million people in the country.
In November 2007, eight people were killed in a school shooting in Jokela in southern Finland. In September 2008, 10 people were fatally shot in another school shooting in Kauhajoki in western Finland.
The Finnish government has been considering tougher gun laws because of an increased number of shootings in recent years.
The government has raised the minimum age for buying firearms from 15 to 18 following the school shooting in 2007 and is planning to raise the age to 20. " |
