03:54 pm - Coalition of Political Conspiracies Dr. Frank Stearns Giese, a former World War II US Navy Captain, died August 6, 2006. He operated the Radical Education Project Book Center and the United Front Bookstore from 1971 to 1975 Dr. Giese was a popular French professor at Portland State University. He was advertised as a national contact for the 1965 Students for a Democratic Society anti-Vietnam War protest in Washington, DC. That march was organized by the Students for a Democratic Society.
The February 13, 1970 Portland State University demonstration where two Navy military recruiters were physically removed from Smith Memorial Center was by the Students for a Democratic Society with aboveground backup from the Student Mobilization Committee. Dr. Giese was not involved in any way. He defended student protestors at the disciplinary Student/Faculty Hearing Committee. He blamed the growing trend of US Imperialism for causing students to violate PSU protest guidelines as acts of desperate frustration.
Lynn B. Meyer was one of the four students kicked out of PSU for "One Year" at the Student/Faculty Hearing Committee. 11 other students were acquitted. The SDS leader got a mistrial. 20 John and Jane Does were not charged.
