Many people treasure Christmas cookies as much as they do Santa Claus. The cookies are often prepared in hopes of his pending arrival by children that are as excited as they can possibly be with all sorts of visions of great things to come dancing around in their bright and shining little eyes. Making cookies under these circumstances can be a great bonding time with your children if you follow the simple tips listed below.
If you wish to bake Christmas cookies or candy with your children, you should do it on a day where you have a lot of free time. Dont just run through the process. Keep in mind that this is a great oppertunity to spend time bonding with your child. Take the time to make special Christmas memories with your children.
Before you begin the process insure that everybody has eaten well and is thoroughly rested. It is important to be aware of the dangerous ingredients in cookie dough like raw eggs. Do not let your children eat raw cookie dough.
Make sure that each child has a chance to do something fun in the process. This includes of course using the mixer and watching things spin around as well as choosing their personal favorites for the next batch of cookies. Make some extra cookies that they can paint, decorate and just have some fun with. This is a good way to spread joy and earn bonus points with mom.
Be patient and expect spills and messes. If it's in your budget hiring a maid after your cookie party is a great idea. After all, insignificant details are best ignored. We make little messes every day it shouldn't be such a shock when they make a really big mess in one day. This is one of the reasons why you want to plan your cookie making on a day when the calendar is clear-you will need time for clean up when all is said and done.
Gather all the ingredients of the cookie recipe before you begin with the actual cooking session. This is very important as cookie dough doesn't wait well for that final egg and children don't understand very well when they are interrupted from one project to run a quick errand (also, when was the last time you made it in and out of the grocery store in under an hour?). After following the above directions, everything should be set for a good experience baking cookies. |
